The Somatic Touch…

Morning movement practice.

I started small—feeding the dogs, just moving around, letting my body wake up. Nothing forced. Just enough to shift from sleep into awareness.

From there I added a little resistance work. I could feel my energy come online… my mind went from chaos to less chaos.

Then I felt pulled outside. It was raining, and I just wanted to be in it. So I grabbed the mace and moved—slow, intentional, just tuning into how my body wanted to move.

At one point I had the urge to go paddleboarding… but something told me to slow it down instead.

So I went into my yoga practice.

The space mattered. We had just cleaned up the garage, and it felt different—clear, open. That alone changed the experience. I moved, pushed where it felt right, backed off where it didn’t.

And when I finished, I didn’t feel accomplished…

I felt different.
Clear. Calm. Happy.

This is what I’m learning:

Different types of movement change how you feel.

  • Some wake you up
  • Some focus you
  • Some settle you

When you start paying attention, you realize you can actually shift your state on purpose.

And that matters… because how you feel is how you show up.
In your life.

As a father.
A partner.
A coworker.
A friend.

I’m not interested in teaching people how to be the best at a movement.

I’m interested in helping people feel their best—so they can show up their best.

That’s the real practice.
